Grass as a plant feels and communicates. It is rich in sensation, responds to stimulation of surrounding and sends messages to one another. Digital Grass connects distant physical locations throughout digital environment and creates awareness of each other enabling them to communicate using language of touch. It explores the potential of innate human impulse - brushing while passing by - for interaction initiation.
Digital Grass is created by optic fiber bundles. They transmit the light signal from the bottom located rgb addressable led strip activated by touch sensed by capacitive sensors (bare wires) included within bundles. Swarm patterns are created by light creating mesmerizing effect. Color changes with the new touch and it is transmitted as blinking signal to other places.
